Cottage Specifications & Environs

Each cottage comes equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, tea and coffee making facilities, 42-inch SMART TV, fibre optic internet connection with free WiFi, underfloor heating, log burner, enclosed garden with outside seating area, barbecue and fire pit with free off-road parking.

Mwsogl is disabled friendly and has a wet room downstairs and a large sofa bed in the lounge, so can sleep 6 (extra charge £25).

Bed-linen is provided but we do ask guests to bring their own towels.

Both cottages are non-smoking.

Both cottages are dog friendly (maximum 2 dogs and a fee is charged of £20 per dog per stay) and we provide a doggie welcome pack and blankets/towels for your furry friends.

Fishing on the lake is included in your booking and we have pegs/swims allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, shared with 2 other cottages on the lake. The lake is stocked with carp, tench and rudd. Coarse fishing rules apply - details upon application.

Behind the barns is a bridleway which runs over a stream and up to the Ty Nant water bottling plant. Ty Nant is the famous blue bottled water favoured by high-end restaurants and hotels. However, if you want to sample it you can just turn on any tap in your cottage – we have the same source. Otherwise, you will have to buy it by the pallet!

Cross Inn is a close-knit rural community with a broad mix of people including locals, ex-pat English and even people from further afield. The hub of the community is Glanarthen Stores and, for a small shop, they have a very wide range of produce as well as a Post Office counter which is open until 12:00pm each day. The shop itself is open until 5:30pm each day including weekends. The local veg supplied here is extraordinary but supplied on a first-come, first-served basis.

Another hub of the community is the Rhos Yr Hafod pub which has won the CAMRA award for the best pub in West Wales twice in the past 3 years. It does not serve food, but it does have a wide range of house and guest ales and specialist spirits such as Welsh gin. Dogs are not permitted inside the pub but there is a pleasant beer garden with a gazebo (and heaters for the colder months) to the rear of the property where they are allowed.

Our nearest ‘town’ is Llannon (4 miles), the birthplace of the mother of St David. It’s more of a village really with 2 pubs (The White Swan Inn and Central Hotel), a hotel (Plas Morfa) and a few shops. We would recommend the butchers (WB Evans) if you are carnivorous. The nearest ‘real’ town is Aberaeron (5 miles), which is charming and features many restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops by its pretty harbour but be warned that in the Summer it can be more than a little tourist-heavy.

New Quay, famous for its dolphin watching, sea fishing excursions and bars and restaurants, is 10 miles away and well worth a visit. A full list of local attractions including beaches, bars, restaurants and sightseeing options is available in the Welcome Pack.

For shopping you have the choice of Lampeter (11 miles), Aberystwyth (15 miles) and the artisanal town of Cardigan (25 miles).
